The AHPScot blog from Ann Gates at Exercise Works created a bit of a stir in the new world of AHPScot blog.
It reached parts of the world previously untapped by AHPScot blog. Traffic to AHPScot blog increased by 596%. That is 596% as in nearly 600%!
It linked in with a posting from the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and offered them an answer to their question and perhpas raised the issue that AHPs are not promoting as much physical activity as much as we think they are.
The blog under the #ahpscotex tag was retweeted or favourited in Scottish Government and had feedback from Spain and New York City.
Perhaps, most importantly it opened up AHPScot blog to a whole new audience of dietitians and their followers and showed the benefit of AHPs linking with non AHP experts such as Ann Gates to get the right message across to the right people at the right time. The only exclusion was it didn’t really target patients or the public….but it is just the beginning.
What is clear is that AHPs in Scotland blogging together collectively are a strong voice in their quest to be effective agents of change.
